Consciousness disturbances are frequent in patients admitted to traumatic intensive care units. These disturbances are associated to amnesia and attention dysfunctions, motor behaviour disorders and perception or even emotional alterations. Neuropsychologic disturbances after injury are reviewed, making a short introduction about general issues, emphasizing social and familiar implications of the problem to focus on psychologic dysfunction.
